We now know where Predator: Badlands will fit into the Alien and Predator film timeline! It's been revealed that the film is actually set very far into the future – after the events of Alien: Romulus, after the events of Alien: Resurrection and also after every single Predator film so far!
Predator: Badlands is technically, so far, going to be the "latest" entry in the Alien and Predator film franchise, setting a new precedent.
This explains why the armor and weaponry in Badlands seems so far advanced and looks different to the conventional Predator weaponry we've seen before.
It also means Thia and Tessa are the most advanced Weyland-Yutani Synthetics so far – vastly more advanced than David was and more advanced than every Android we've seen so far!
I find this particular detail extremely fascinating.

Oh, thats cool. Hi guys from AVP Galaxy!
Hey! ?? how's the weather over there? And yes very cool! I'm curious to see how advanced the synths are in this movie. They should be significantly ahead of everything we've seen so far.

Yes finally an ALIEN/PREDATOR movie that pushes the timeline forward. Although I hope it takes place after ALIEN 3 but Resurrection is fine I guess.

According to reports Badlands takes place way after the events of Resurrection so both Alien 3 and 4 have already occurred by the time Badlands takes place – assuming they don’t ret-con them for Alien 5 (if that actually gets made).
